Roy Buchanan is still regarded as "the world's best unknown guitarist" to this day. The Rolling Stones wanted him to replace Brian Jones, and Eric Clapton asked him to play the guitar for Derek & The Dominos - but he turned down both offers. Roy Buchanan was a true master of the Fender Telecaster guitar; and his playing technique significantly influenced musicians such as Gary Moore and Jeff Beck. His first solo album was released in 1971. but the albums he recorded from 1985 onwards career are the ones he was most satisfied with. This Rockpalast concert was recorded at the Markthalle in Hamburg on February 24, 1985 - just three years before his tragic suicide - with Martin Stevenson (vocals), John Steele (guitar, keyboards), Anthony Dumm (bass) and Martin Yula (drums). It is a performance that shows Roy Buchanan's genius on the guitar in an extremely unique way. It is no secret, however, that Roy Buchanan was particularly able to present his outstanding talents during his live performances. (bron: MIG)
