Les Pècheurs de Perles (2005)

Op 23 en 25 januari 2015 brengt de Nederlandse Reisopera dit werk op de planken van het Wilminktheater. Dit is voor zover wij weten de enige registratie op DVD van deze opera, die vooral bekend is om het duet "Au fond du temple saint". "This production is quite handsome. Pier Luigi Pizzi has set the main action on an orange platform that curves up gracefully at both ends; chorus and dancers perform on and around it (Gheorghe Iancu is credited with the busy, frequent choreography). Theres the occasional backdrop of a temple. Although theres nothing particularly realistic about any of it, the staging works well, giving off just the right exotic aura. The costumes (also by Pizzi) are in shades of saffron and orange, except for Nadirsas the outsider, he wears black. Annick Massis is lovely to look at theres a passing resemblance to Callas and while her acting is not overwhelmingly insightful, its as graceful as her singing. (...) A fine performance."
