De ondertitel is eigenlijk al allesverduidelijkend: deze 10CD-set bevat van ieder jaar (van 1950 t/m 1959) 20 grote hits. Het is een door Britten samengestelde set, dus dit is wel bezien door Britse ogen. Nederlandse of Duitse hits zult u hier dus niet aantreffen. Wel is goed te merken dat de Britten in 1954 al in de ban waren van de rock 'n' roll: dat zou bij ons nog even duren. Er zit daar een duidelijke omslag in de set: de talrijk aanwezige crooners van de jaren ervoor kom je daarna veel minder tegen in de hitparade.
