Now I'M Easy (1980)

" This is a folk album such as granddad used to like, before those new fangled synthesizers and all that. So unhip as to be beyond fashion. Almost sounds avant-garde in it's squareness. It has grassroots appeal and Eric has slyly included a few "singer-songwriter" rough diamonds. A listen worthy album for one of the absolute peaks of protest folk song - 'The Band Played Waltzing Matilda'. A couple more of these songs carry a similar theme while a gentle humour is found in some of the others. The album's tales are through the filter of a Scottish immigrant settling in Australia and the singing is laid back but heartfelt. If you long for an antidote to modern celebrity culture and bling, this home-on-the-porch album just might be the ticket! Singers such as Eric Bogle follow in the folk slipstream with time-honoured tradition. These are gentle pokes at the powers-that-be and reflections on the state of the heart. " (serendipity)|
