The Nyingmapa order has the longest history of transmitting all four major traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. This is reflect in the name Nyingma, which means “Old Order.” The Other three leading Tibetan Buddhism schools, Sakya, Kagyu, and Gelug, collectively refer to the New Order (Sarma). They rely on translating Buddhist script from India during the second dissemination of Buddhism to Tibet. The Drukpa Order is one of the most important Buddhist schools in the Himalayan region. The transmission lineage looks back on a heritage of more than 800 years. The central concern is the practical application of Buddhist teachings in daily life. (music-brainz)
