"Composers Stephen Schwartz, Greg Wells, and Stephen Oremus worked on the "Wicked" soundtrack composition. According to them, their first priority was to keep the soundtrack as original as possible because the original thing was already iconic. The composers also didn’t want you to love the soundtrack because you loved the movie. They wanted the soundtrack to be something that could offer “a standalone and complete aural experience” from the film itself. So since the soundtrack isn’t a “copy and paste” byproduct of the movie, fans have been discovering subtle differences between it and the version they heard in the movie. A lot of thought was put into making this soundtrack and it paid off. The composition and delivery were all beautifully done and transported the musical to an emotionally-charged sphere.
