(GR Muziekbank)|
"A successful album which in 2004 took 11th place in the World Music Charts Europe. The band's name means suite. It had been formed in 2000 from folk, rock and jazz musicians, and they arranged Slovakian folk songs as contemporary ethnobeat, as they call it themselves. And this is a as good a description as any, at least we know where to put it. Very at ease, heading straight into the heart of the pop charts. Not as rocking as fellow Slovakians Konaboj. Not meant ironical or negative, it is really a pleasure to listen."(Folkworld.eu)

"Reflecting the less-frenetic side of Javanese music, musicians of the Sunda region in the southwest portion of the island incorporate many traditional gamelan elements into an often reflective and at times playful ensemble sound. Beyond many traditional recordings, there are also modern, pop-inspired records such as this. Featuring the renowned singers Euis Komariah and Yu Wiradiredja, The Sound of Sunda offers up a stellar set of love songs sung in both the traditional and modern style, with some stunning and somewhat haunting vocal twists to top things off. Backed by the impressive Orchestras Jugala & Pateraman Dasentra, Komoriah and Wiradiredja are nothing but stunning on eight of the most intoxicating pieces to come out of Java." (Stephen Cook)
