The band wanted their new album to be free of associated baggage, neither did they want to distance themselves from their earlier work. This is simply a change of direction that has occurred out of changing lives. Around the pandemic they reconnected with albums and bands they had grown up with. Through all of this and the next few years a soft rock/yacht rock album began to shape itself, influenced by Fleetwood Mac, Toto, Christopher Cross, The Eagles and Steely Dan. You can understand all the doubts they had around this project, nobody is making anything like this right now. Whilst this may alienate a few older fans of the band it is also going to find a home with people who never gave The Ting Tings the time of day previously. "Zanger/gitarist Andy Platts (frontman van Mama’s Gun en om die reden de ‘Young Gun’) en toetsenist/producer Shawn Lee (de grijzende veteraan ‘Silver Fox’ die werkte met onder meer Lana del Rey, Amy Winehouse en Alicia Keys) laten zich graag inspireren door de hoogtepunten uit de jaren zeventig: Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac en Wings. Op hun vijfde album "Pleasure" bereiken ze productioneel een niveau dat zich kan meten met de besten uit die tijd. Dat ze dat deden in amper een maand fysieke productietijd, terwijl muzikanten vroeger meer dan een half jaar in de studio nodig hadden, is natuurlijk te danken aan de automatisering en de mogelijkheid digitaal bestanden uit te wisselen. Songs als "Stevie & Sly", "Born To Dream", "Late Night Last Train" en "Put Up Your Dukes" zijn echter pure ear candy.
