He sings with the same power and sensitivity as "el barbaro" once did. This singer was educated in a family of outstanding musicians. Not only his father was a singer: his mother was too, and she released a number of successful CDs. Bebo has inherited the MORE family voice.

Het is een weergave van de samenwerking van de Cubaanse reed virtuoso Paquito DRivera met de Braziliaanse meestertrompettist Claudio Roditi en de New York Voices. Het is daarmee ook de realisatie van een droom van Paquito DRivera, wiens liefde voor vocale kwartet muziek al in de zestiger jaren begon in Havana, toen hij naar de radioprogrammas luisterde van zijn favoriete zender in Miami. Het album bevat composities van Jobim, Bonfa, Donato, maar ook nummers van DRivera en Roditi zelf. Hoogtepunten van de cd zijn Desafinado en het in het Portugees gezongen nummer Retrato Em Branco E Preto. Nederlandse trompettiste die in Columbia woont. Op zondag 19 mei 2013 is ze op het International Jazz Festival Enschede! "In haar woonplaats Medellín wordt ze, groot geworden door zich níet aan te passen, op straat herkend. Het trompetspel van Hontelé doet denken aan Cubaanse cafés, waar gerimpelde muzikanten spelen voor een rustig rum drinken publiek. Maar in werkelijkheid staat een energieke jonge vrouw op het podium. Haar grootste helden komen uit Cuba. Wijlen Celia Cruz bijvoorbeeld. En Alain Perez, een Cubaanse muzikant die op haar nieuwe album speelt. Haar partner Juancho Valencia, ook muzikant, schrijft haar comosoties en teksten. Het resultaat is een mix van stijlen: Son Cubano, chachacha, charanga, danzón, bolero. Favoriete salsaband uit Puerto Rico van de Nederlandse, in Columbia wonende ster-salsa-trompettiste Maite Hontelé, zo laat ze Heaven weten. Mede omdat de band altijd met minstens vier trompettisten werkt. "This solid overview of Puerto Rico's favorite group of salseros looks at their Fania years -- basically, a 15-year period between the late '60s and early '80s -- with a baker's dozen of classic numbers. Their best LPs get a few numbers each, including Musical Conquest and Explorando (the latter gets four selections), and although progression is difficult to gauge -- Sonora Ponceña changed remarkably little during stylistically turbulent times -- the uniformity works well in the context of a compilation." De zanger Azuquita is geboren als Camilo Luis Argumédez, in 1945, in Colón, Panama. Hij heeft opgetreden met vele grootheden uit de wereld van de latin muziek en heeft zich daartoe bekwaamd in een veelheid van stijlen. In de jaren 1972 - 78 toerde hij met een eigen band "Azuquita y sus melao" met een spetterende salsa show. Zoals te horen op dit album met onder andere de internationale hit "Un, Dos, Tres ... Maria" (Gr Muziekbank)
