"David Sylvian has long divided opinion. For every passionate supporter there are many who will decry his moves as pretentious. This 30-minute spoken word piece, a collaboration with Mark Wastell and Rhodri Davies, is unlikely to change how Sylvian is perceived, being closer to 2014's "There Is A Light..." than "Gone To Earth". The text that Sylvian carefully enunciates is by Bernard-Marie Koltes, and part of a 1985 play, "In The Solitude Of Cotton Fields", featuring a dialogue between two shadowy characters: the dealer and the client. Broadly this concerns a transaction, the nature of which is hinted at but not revealed. The name 'the dealer' suggests drugsor a pimp perhaps; maybe even a devil harvesting souls...but nothing is explained. Davies and Wastell are longstanding improvising partners having played with high profile Sylvian collaborators like Derek Bailey and Evan Parker. Luxe uitvoering van de live-registratie van de tournee volgend op 'The first day'. Sylvian en Fripp van hun beste kant. Heel sfeervol. Bij de cd zit een boekje met foto's van het concert.
Zeer diverse 'reworkings' door zeer uiteenlopende artiesten, van tracks van het 'Blemish'-album. Dat album was heel minimaal en voor sommigen wellicht te eentonig, want geheel gebouwd rond en gefocust op Davids ietwat nasale vocalen. Daar is nu geen sprake meer van: het muzikale palet loopt nu uiteen van 'laptop-clicks 'n' cuts' tot akoestische kamermuziek.
