Het album rond het beroemde schandaalduet uit 1969. Naast nóg een paar duetten is de plaat vooral gevuld met solo gezongen stukken, door óf Gainsbourg óf Birkin. Gainsbourg schreef (natuurlijk) wel alle chansons. De meeste stukken zijn lekker zwoel orkestraal gearrangeerd, hetgeen de mysterieuze lading van Gainsbourgs fluisterpraatzang danwel het erotisch geladen gekir van oerzuchtmeisje Birkin alleen maar aandikt. Deze fraaie heruitgave gaat vergezeld van een 32 pagina's dik boekje met een flink essay over het album en het duo, alsmede schitterend beeldmateriaal (deels van flink oe-la-la-gehalte) en alle liedteksten.

Songs like Shotgun have so much energy and power. Looks like they have not aged by 1 minute ... (33 years later). Billy Rush does an outstanding job in the orchestration and guitars." "You're Under Arrest, Gainsbourg's final album, was another collaboration with American Billy Rush. It's difficult to say what Rush was going for here with Gainsbourg. There's the feeling that Rush was taken with both Nile Rodgers' Chic and Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five. These are overly slick funk tunes that border on both new wave and rap, and seem to leave the subtle ironies of Gainsbourg's demented lyrics behind -- which is too bad. Again, this is a record of solid material that misses (if only just) because of Billy Rush's heavy hand. No matter though, because the Gainsbourg faithful will have to have it anyway." (Allmusic)
