"This is, to my knowledge, the first and only example of a book and jazz CD that were coordinated and used the same artwork on the cover of the book and the liner notes of the album. The book [La Note Bleue] was originally written in French in comic book format [later translated in to English and other languages], the CD came later. The CD ultimately proved more popular than the book and won awards in France. It is one of Barney Wilen's finest recordings. Wilen was, in my view, the greatest French saxophonist, bar none. He mastered tenor, soprano and baritone. All of his albums on the French Ida label [incuding this one] are excellent.
