William Matteuzzi is already justly celebrated as one of Italys leading bel canto tenors, noted for his Rossini roles. This collection of operatic rarities provides plenty of both Rossini (Le comte Ory, Il viaggio a Reims) and Donizetti (La Fille du Regiment, Il castello di Kenilworth) while taking Matteuzzi into fresh territory with three French arias - from Adams Le Postillon de Lonjumeau, Aubers La Muette di Portici, and Offenbachs Le pont des Soupirs. These three, plus other pieces from Pacini and Carafa, allow Matteuzzi ample scope to display the unique qualities of his voice; tender, almost vunerable and naturally suited to the romantic heroic roles of 19th-century opera.
