On 21st October 1985 at Londons Limehouse Studios a superstar cast of friends and fans joined Carl Perkins to record a TV special celebrating his career, 30 years after he recorded "Blue Suede Shoes". Perkins was joined by George Harrison and Eric Clapton and other stars including Dave Edmunds, Slim Jim Phantom and Lee (Stray Cats) Rocker plus Earl Slick and singer Rosanne Cash. George Harrison struck up a lasting friendship with Perkins and much of the continued interest in the programme lies in the prominent role played by Harrison. The former Beatle takes lead vocal on several tracks as well as playing guitar. He is joined by former colleague Ringo Starr: their first gig together since the mid-1970s. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of this unique show, the concert is released as DVD/CD set in a mediabook with liner notes from Sam Szczepanski, who was one of the fans who managed to get a ticket for the show. This set captures the whole concert. The DVD also includes short interviews. (bron: Madfish)
CD-R van ons LP-exemplaar. Debuut uit 1971. Hij bespeelt bijna alle instrumenten zelf. Daarbij gebruikt hij soms rare effecten, zoals in 'I Hear You Knocking', op andere momenten laat hij r'n'r en r&b uit de fifties nauwgezet herleven.
"Welsh Rocker David William Dave Edmunds successfully combined traditional rhythm & blues with soul and rockabilly. In the late seventies he released a string of bestselling albums, following a distinct formula that combined the energy of pub rock with rockabilly swing. Edmunds must have thought: dont fix what isnt broken, revealed by his 1979 album title: "Repeat When Necessary". Recommended for fans of Elvis Costello and Rory Gallagher!" (Bertus / MOV)
"Dave Edmunds assembled a self-consciously eclectic roots-rock album for "D.E. 7th" (1982), his first post-Rockpile effort. Instead of returning to a one-man band status, Edmunds hired a new band, which prevented him from returning to the studied perfectionism of his early work. Edmunds is concentrating on roots music this time around, delivering the wonderful bluegrass-stomp "Warmed Over Kisses (Left Over Love)," the countryrocker "Bail You Out," the cajun-tinged "Louisiana Man" and the excellent Springsteen cover "From Small Things (Big Things One Day Come)." For some inexplicable reason, Edmunds decided to shoot for mass success with "Information" (1983), enlisting ELO's Jeff Lynne to give him a contemporary, synthesized sheen. Lynne steers the guitarist toward generally undistinguished material, with the exception of his own "Slipping Away," which pulsates with a surprisingly infectious synthetic beat and an undeniably catchy hook that manages to be both contemporary and rootsy." Album uit 1987. "Live" betekent in dit geval live opgenomen in de studio. Twee songs waren nog niet eerder verschenen: "Paralyzed" en "The Wanderer".
