"For most of the 1980s, The Allman Brothers Band was on hiatus. In 1989, the band was reactivated again, partly owing to the success of the 4CD box set retrospective "Dreams". They added Warren Haynes from Dickey Betts' solo band on lead guitar as a replacement for Dan Toler, with Allen Woody playing bass; Chuck Leavell was gone, however, having agreed to join the Rolling Stones on tour as their keyboard player, and Lamar Williams had succumbed to cancer in 1983. The new lineup surprised everyone with their first release, "Seven Turns". The follow-up, "Shades Of Two Worlds" (1991) is a major step forward, with more mature songs, more improvisation than the group had featured in their work since the early 1970s, and more confidence than they'd shown since "Brothers And Sisters". It's all here, from acoustic bottleneck playing ("Come On In My Kitchen") to jazz improvisation ("Kind Of Bird"), with the most reflective songwriting ("Nobody Knows") in their history." ""Idlewild South" (1970) werd vernoemd naar de oude naam van het vliegveld in New York - nu Kennedy Airport. De band was na een wat vlak klinkend debuutalbum uitgegroeid tot een geoliede machine die menig podium in de VS verschroeid achterliet. Geen makkelijke opgave om di vast te leggen en het was de legendarische producer Tom Dowd die tot taak kreeg dit te doen. Resultaat is veruit het beste studioalbum dat de band maakte met een serie classics die tot in lengte van dagen op de setlist stonden. Het materiaal is dan ook ijzersterk en de vlammende solos van Duane legendarisch. De reissue is niet alleen mooi geremasterd, deze Deluxe Editie heeft 12 extra tracks in de vorm van outtakes, alternatieve versies en live opnames. De echte fan gaat natuurlijk voor de box en daar zijn nog eens 14 extra tracks toegevoegd. Hoogtepunt hierop is het concert dat de band in 1970 in Ludlow Garage, Ohio gaf, nu met de toevoeging van "In Memory For Elizabeth Reed" voor het eerst helemaal compleet." (Bert Dijkman, Platomania)
Dit 5de studio-album, uit 1975, staat niet te boek als hun beste, toch valt er weer te genieten van vooral Dickey Betts soepele, melodieuze gitaarspel over licht-groovende ritmes, stilistisch aansluitend op voorganger 'Brothers & Sisters'.
