Live-opnamen uit voornamelijk de jaren 60 van cello-virtuoos Mstislav Rostropovitsj met diverse Russische orkesten. Het interessante van deze 3CD-set is dat naast bekende werken voor cello en orkest ook obscuurdere composities te horen zijn, zoals toentertijd versgecomponeerde celloconcerten van Tisjtsjenko en Vlasov. Van de concertrapsodie van Chatsjatoerian is hier trouwens een arrangement voor cello en piano te horen.

Historische opnamen in beeld en geluid van de legendarische cellist.
Debuutalbum van de Koreaanse dirigente/celliste Han-na Chang (1982). Han-na Chang begon cello te spelen toen ze 6 was. In 1993 verhuisde ze met haar ouders naar de Verenigde Staten, waar ze aan de Juilliard School ging studeren. Ook nam Chang les bij Mischa Maisky. In 1994 won ze de vijfde Rostropovich International Cello Competition. Dit leidde tot privé-lessen van Rostropovitsj en het opnemen van deze cd met het London Symphony Orchestra. Sindsdien heeft Chang zich hoofdzakelijk gewijd aan het dirigeren. Ondanks maakte ze haar Nederlandse debuut met het Noord-Nederlands Orkest.
