Mandy Barnett (1975) won als kind van tien al een country-talentenjacht op Dolly Partons Dollywood. Vanaf toen zeulde haar moeder haad zo vaak als ze kon naar Nasvhille om haar dochter tot countryster te laten kneden. Ze was dan ook nog een tiener toen ze bij het Asylum-label van het grote Warner Brothers werd binnengehaald. Haar stijl lag toen en ligt nog steeds rechtstreeks in het verlengde van de klassieke country uit de populairste tijden van het genre. Ze klinkt als een tijdgenoot van Jim Reeves, Brenda Lee en Patsy Cline. Vooral de gelijkenis met laatstnoemde zangeres is treffend. Niet voor niets speelde ze tijdenlang avond aan avond de hoofdrol in de musicalproductie "Always... Patsy Cline". Barnett heeft een opmerkelijk volle zangstem en een inlevingsvermogen die je meteen doet geloven of ze de bezongen voorvallen allemaal zelf heeft meegemaakt.
