"Up North is the name of this album and it is the result of a unique collaboration between Bob Brookmeyer, one of the great legends in American big band jazz, and Lennart Åberg, who is without doubt one of the foremost among Swedens jazz musicians. Bob Brookmaeyer, who for a long time had been fascinated by Lennart Åbergs playing on the soprano saxophone, took the initiative already in the mid 1980s to compose for Åberg and idea that was finally realized after more than twenty years. Among the pieces on this CD you will find Brookmeyers Suite for Soprano Saxophone and 16 Players, composed for Åberg, and Lennart Åbergs big band suite In the Tradition. Performers on the CD include soloists Nils Landgren, Tim Hagans, Daniel Karlsson et al. and the Norrbotten Big Band." (Caprice Records).
