"Superb debut from the Brazilian duo. Right up there with the works of Marcos Valle, Caetano Veloso and Jorge Ben. Fun mix of traditional samba, MPB and light sprinkles of fuzz for an accessible psychedelic atmosphere. Love the pure joy that is evident in so much Brazilian music; the unrestrained howls, the off-kilter beats, the ecstatic blows of what sound like soccer whistles accenting the corners.... I'd say about ten of the twelve songs have aged quite well, sounding very 'of the era' but not stale (the others aren't bad, they just sound a bit kitschy on modern ears—perhaps the Beach Boys are a good anglo-equivalent...?)
